Assignment 2 Devlog
1. Introduction
For the assignment's theme, I chose the museum theme. Because I am very interested in history, and I also want to know about cold weapons. So, I want to build a museum about ancient weapons collection. In the program, you can see the cold weapons used by the armies of various countries in ancient times.
2. Description of the application
The application mainly introduces the styles of ancient cold weapons in various countries to users. In this application, users can observe the cold weapons displayed at close range, display, or hide the introduction information through buttons, and even hold the exhibits in their hands to watch. As the content of the theme of the museum, the most important thing is to show the cultural relics and related information to the visitors. With the help of VR technology, in the application, not only can it be the same as visiting the museum, but also can be viewed through the visual sense, through grasping, The function of rotation allows visitors to hold objects in their hands to watch at close range, and the way of rotation can make the displayed objects clearer, which is difficult or even impossible.
3. Interaction Design
As an application displayed at close range, interaction is very necessary, and users need to know the information of the displayed items. Of course, I think that the appropriate scene and background music can bring users an immersive feeling.
Next is the storyboard when I design, from entering the application to some interactions.
After entering the program, the user will see some simple welcome messages, and the background music will automatically start looping
After a brief exploration, the user will find two identical swords on the wall, one of which keeps spinning.
While pressing and holding the button, the user can hold the sword in the hand
When the user presses another button on the handle, some relevant information about the exhibit is displayed.
4. Technical Development
This application was designed using the Oculus VR kit and was tested using the Oculus Quest2. In-program manipulation in addition to basic VR movement, there are HandTrigger keys for picking, A and X keys for hiding and revealing information.
5. Descriptions of 3D Models
The dungeon scene is a place think is more suitable for placing weapons. In this application scene, it can bring the user the most immersive feeling.
A model of a sword is displayed as an exhibit.
The above two are the background music in the program to set off the atmosphere.
